Tell us about the proposal… Craig proposed to me in St Ives on Porthminster beach on 19th November 2016. We’d been together just under 7 years. We spent the whole day in St Ives and the weather was awful, it was actually Storm Angus at the time. Craig was adamant that he wanted us to go on the beach, so we did and then we got asked to leave the beach as there were fireworks being set off from the hotel above the beach. Once we left the beach Craig wanted to go back on and so we ended up going down a ramp onto the beach below a restaurant called Porthminster Beach Cafe and Craig proposed to me under an umbrella – the perfect storm!
Where did you get married and how did you pick the venue? We got married in St Ives in St Uny Church, Lelant with the reception at St Ives Harbour Hotel and Spa. For us, St Ives represents so many happy memories as I have been going to St Ives since I was two years old for holidays and Craig and I have holidayed there every year since we have been together which is 9 1/2 years. St Uny Church holds lots of memories for my family as my mum, auntie and uncles used to look at the church when they were children from the estuary beneath and St Ives Harbour Hotel and Spa looks over the beach we got engaged.
How did you find our Boutique? I found your shop from Google when I was searching for places to shop
What made you decide your dress was the one & what did you love most about it?
I tried on around 25 dresses and I just could not decide what I wanted. Bella one of the store assistant’s at the bridal boutique asked if she could choose some dresses for me as to what I would like and I agreed. After two dresses, I tried on the one I ended up choosing with a belt (I hate belts!) and I just started to get emotional, as did my mum – and we were so adamant that we weren’t going to get emotional about dresses! So that’s how I knew it was the one. I absolutely loved the belt and the back of the dress and the fact that it was A-line, it really suited my body shape.
How did you accessorise, ie, which shoes did you pick? Did you choose a Headpiece or a Veil, or both? I had a tiara from Buckingham Palace and a veil which I bought to match the dress directly it was also Essence of Australia. My shoes were Dune, shoes I’d wanted all along but couldn’t get in my size, until a week before the wedding when they came back in stock – must be fate!
Did you have Bridesmaids? If so, what did they wear, how did you pick?
I had four bridesmaid who all wore dusty pink, one shoulder dresses from David’s Bridal. They looked fantastic and the colour and style suited them all perfectly. It took a while to find the perfect dress to suite them all but we finally found one and it was worth the wait.
What did your groom wear?
Craig wore a teal suit from Moss Bros. with a dusty pink tie from Swagger and Swoon which matched the bridesmaid dresses perfectly. Craig also changed into a bow tie on the night in the same colour as the day. All of the groomsmen and our four dads had the same suit too. Craig had a pocket watch which had St Ives as the background of the watch and a tie clip with our initials.
Finally, tell us about your big day ..The day was perfect from start to finish, nothing went wrong which could have been just our luck! The weather was terrible the week leading up to the wedding and on the day, the sun came out all day! Everyone was so happy, and enjoyed the day so much, there was constant smiles and laughs all around the room. It was great to have all of our family and friends in one room on our special day. My favourite moment was when our photographer (Emma Latham, Freckle Photography) & Ben our videographer (Chapter & Verse) asked us to go with them to The Terrace (a well known viewing point in St Ives) just at the point of sunset – we didn’t expect or ask for this but it produced one of the most fantastic photos which overlooks the whole of St Ives – an absolutely amazing moment that we will never forget – even after several shots of Tequilla!
