Tell us about the proposal…

The proposal was a complete surprise! It was a couple of days before Ben’s 30th birthday and we were getting ready to go out for a nice meal to celebrate. Ben told me that he had a present to give me before we left and that I should cover my eyes while he went to get it. When he told me a could open my eyes, he was down on one knee with a ring in his hands! Of course, I said yes immediately and I walked around in a daze for about a week after that from shellshock.

Where did you get married and how did you pick the venue?

We got married at Cripps Barn in Bibury, Goucestershire. It was the first venue we visited and it immediately felt right. We viewed a couple of other places just to compare but nothing came close – Cripps was perfect and we loved their fireplace for a cosy winter wedding. The staff were so incredibly accommodating and the food was to die for – it lived up to all of our expectations and more!

How did you find our Boutique?

I was recommended by a friend who got married the summer before us. She had said how many beautiful dresses there were and she was right! I had a hard time choosing.

What made you decide your dress was the one & what did you love most about it?

I may have been the most indecisive bride to ever choose a dress – I liked a lot but didn’t ever feel like I could commit to one. With most of the dresses I tried, I loved parts of it but wanted to change others to make them more ‘me’ – but with the dress I chose, I didn’t want to change anything. In the end I chose my dress because it had a flattering silhouette and neckline and I felt the style fit our wedding day. I loved the lace straps and beading on the top, while the smooth crepe skirt was beautifully-shaped and I loved the buttons down the back. It also had an incredible train!

How did you accessorise?

I chose some open-toed Rainbow Club satin shoes in ivory, and a full-length veil. I also wore a headpiece which was decorated with pearls and diamonds and I had a fur stole which I wore for some of the time we were outside.

Did you have Bridesmaids?

Yes, I had two bridesmaids. They wore burgundy, fitted dresses with a V-shaped neckline to compliment mine. They also wore ivory fur stoles and strappy heeled shoes. After considering a few colour themes, I decided I wanted a warm colour for the bridesmaids to wear. It was a mixture of a deep berry pink and a red wine colour.

What did your groom wear?
Ben wore a deep navy suit and waistcoat with an ivory satin tie and pocket-square. Our ushers wore burgundy ties and pocket-squares to match the bridesmaids.

Finally, tell us about your big day ..
It was cosy, warm and candle-lit.
My favourite moment was watching our friends and family be surprised by our incredible singing waiters – favourite song was ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’!
